The Department Welcomes Visiting Associate Professor Igor Pilshchikov

The department is pleased to announce the appointment of Igor Pilshchikov to the faculty. Dr. Pilshchikov joins the department as a Visiting Associate Professor. Dr. Pilshchikov is one of the world’s foremost experts on the author/poet Alexander Pushkin. He completed his Ph.D. at Moscow State University in Russian and European Literatures and his research has focused on 19th century Russian literature in a comparatist and cross-cultural context. He has studied under the tutelage of famed Soviet scholar Yuri Lotman. Dr. Pilshchikov has authored two books, edited eight books, and is currently working on a monograph of the motifs, vocabulary, and style of lyrical Russian genres in the context of ancient and modern European literatures.

Dr. Pilshchikov will teach Russian 130A: Introduction to Russian Poetry in the fall.
